Our 2025 Season

Our 2025 Season

Blueberry Season has almost come to an end and we can hardly believe how fast this season has flown by.  It all started at the Beginning of June as we harvested blueberry foliage for our local florists.  Blueberry foliage? You might ask. Yes, branches with green berries on them.  It's epic and very "sexy" in arrangements, Holly Chapple might tell you, my good flower friend and mentor from Leesburg, Virginia.  But certain people in the industry might share with you that blueberry foliage is for the floral artist and not the classic designer per se.

Once the foliage came to a halt in the middle of July, next was blueberry harvesting.  A different story of its own.  This year, we had a drought.  Luckily, we do have irrigation on the farm and we were able to water our lovely Elliot Blueberry bushes and get those berries nice and plump.  We harvested over 1,000 pounds of no spray organic blueberries and sold 5lb boxes to friends in the Chicagoland area as well as clients in the North Shore burbs of Chicago.

Also on our growing menu are thousands of organically grown flowers, from roses, French marigolds, gomphrena, dahlias, zinnias, cosmos, mint, peonies, sunflowers, celosia, snowberries and so much more.  We currently harvest and wholesale to our lovely florists as well as offer same day floral deliveries to our lovely clients on the North Shore, mainly in Highland Park, Illinois.  Nothing can beat dahlias harvested hours before an arrangement is delivered at the recipient's doorstep.

So much is in the works this upcoming season as we apply for USDA organic certification in November and plan on launching our first public u-pick next year. No farm in Southwest Michigan offers both no spray organic blueberries and a flower u-pick.  We are excited for the journey ahead.
